My Project

I am a special education teacher who works with children who come from diverse backgrounds. Many of my students struggle with social skills such as playing with peers, identifying emotions, and regulating their behavior. Our school has seen an increase in students who lack these abilities.

Basic skills such as learning emotions and turn-taking are much more fun while playing games and engaging with peers.

These early skills are vital to a student's emotional growth and prepare them to become adults who can have healthy relationships. Once students can identify their emotions, they can begin to learn to regulate their behavior. Students can learn to use tools to calm their bodies and think about how to respond to difficult situations. Empathy, problem-solving, and impulse control are all topics that can be taught.
