The amazing children in our classroom deserve clean, high-quality educational materials that are visually appealing and safe to use daily.
Eight-three percent of the students at my building qualify for free or reduced lunch. One of the honors I have as the lead teacher is that I get to collaborate with the families of our students. I get to help ensure their child’s first experience in school is a positive one! Many of my students are English language learners, I work to incorporate their home languages into our environment and routines. Our young students have the opportunity to learn through play and guided discoveries both inside and outside. From day one, all of our students learn mindful strategies for understanding their emotions, handling disappointments and disagreements. We do this by using games, solution kit cards, a breathing ball, a chime, role-playing and lots of practice of course.
My Project
Based on a conversation during Story Time today, the majority of our students have never tried spin art before and would love to try it!
With these materials, our young artists could continue to explore the beauty of color and the science of mixing colors.
The spin art machines, watercolor brushes, tempera paint sticks and glitter glue are all materials that would enhance the appeal of our art center, decorate our walls and put a prideful smile on the faces of our forty students. Experimenting with different types of materials is crucial in the development of children and we have found the best way is through hands-on learning!
