My Students

Students at my school come from a working class neighborhood that is very well integrated. They are every color of the rainbow and come from multiple backgrounds. One thing that they have in common is that many of their families are working multiple jobs and having trouble making ends meet.

Teachers, counselors, and other staff members frequently purchase basic need items for students who are not able to receive them from their families.

This school uses a program of catching students doing the right thing. There is an ongoing conversation about "being a bucket filler" by doing good things. They receive incentive "bucks" for good behavior and deeds.

I want my students to have the same fun, exciting and wonderful experiences I had when I was in school. School should be fun and safe for all students to learn.

My Project

Darkside sphero is an app-enabled robotic ball that you can drive and code, providing endless opportunities to be creative and have fun while learning. Students can code these Spheros to do just about anything they want. Students will be able to connect these to use different apps on the iPads. These would be a great addition to our technology Fridays at school. These will help improve students learning and technology skills for their future. Technology isn’t going anywhere, and is used more and more each day. If students start using technology at a young age who knows what they can do in the future.

Advanced yet approachable, you can learn programming, complete hands-on activities, and share your creations with the community.

Students will enjoy learning and playing at the same time. I think many students will like to play with these Spheros, something new.
