This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

When people hear “student-athlete,” most imagine D-1 athletes. They probably don’t consider the students playing at the high school level. Yet student-athletes come in many varieties. Needless to say, the home-school-sport balance looks different for each student.

The vast majority of my athletes will never go on to compete professionally.

So why do they compete?

These athletes join the program in order to be a part of something bigger. The biggest benefit of being a student-athlete is the family you develop between your teammates and coaches. Not only do they become a family, but they also learn valuable skills that translate to the working world. They learn to handle the stress of school, time management, deadlines, and teamwork. They learn to have structure. Prioritization is a skill that many working professionals still haven’t mastered. Student-athletes, on the other hand, have no other choice but to cut out the nonessential. As a student athlete, there are choices you have to make (i.e., committed to your sport, good grades, enough sleep).

Every day theses students come to compete no matter their struggles, and that is what I am MOST PROUD OF!!!

My Project

Maintaining a high quality softball player requires paying constant attention to several important factors which include speed and agility. These factors require dedicated attention on a daily basis in order to see improvement.

With the speed and agility equipment, our athletes will understand the importance these two components play in the softball world.

We hope to educate and inform our athletes on the importance of maintaining their speed and agility, not only to compete with like minded players but also as a means to provide a safer playing experience with limited injuries.
