My students need dramatic play items, like puppets, a Little People Animal Sounds Farm, a Melissa & Doug Pizza Party and more, to improve their language skills.
Children learn best through play. My students in particular need hands on experience through structured play activities to build vocabulary and language.
My students are elementary aged K-3rd grade with severe disabilities such as Autism, Cerebral Palsy and other Developmental Disorders.
All of my students are severely language impaired and many are non-verbal. These are diverse students from a multitude of language backgrounds. Most of my students are from poverty, as my school is 85% free/reduced lunch.
My Project
I requesting a number of dramatic play toys to motivate my students to play and request. Included are car sets, play food items, play animals and dress up magnetic dolls. We can work on nouns, adjectives, prepositions, and verbs with all of these items. No dramatic play would be complete without puppets! There is a set of multi-cultural puppets that my students would benefit from using!
This project will help the language skills of some of our community's neediest kids (both economically and developmentally).
Help my students to benefit from exposure to fun and durable toys so that they can gain great language skills!
