Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a speech therapist I love helping children discover the power of their own voices and build confidence in communicating. Being part of their learning journey every day is truly rewarding. I am currently in my first year at a preschool center working with 3K and Pre-K students. Given that this is my first year, having materials that help target and support each student’s individual needs will be especially valuable. Every day I watch them explore, try new words, and play with friends, and it’s amazing to see their confidence and communication skills grow. Children at this age learn best through play which is why I am mainly requesting learning toys. Play food sets like the Melissa & Doug Pizza Party and Scoop & Serve Ice Cream Counter help students practice speech, follow directions, and take turns. Pretend play sets, including the Occupations Magnetic Dress-Up Dolls and kitchen accessories, encourage creativity, conversation, and social skills. Puzzles, blocks, and magnetic building sets support problem-solving, fine motor development, and language practice. Interactive toys like shape sorting, pop-up toys, and sensory items engage children and make learning hands-on and fun. Books, including lift-the-flap titles like First 100 Words, Where’s Spot?, and Dear Zoo, introduce new words, expand vocabulary, and develop storytelling skills. With your support, my students will have the tools they need to find their voices, build confidence, strengthen their receptive and expressive language skills, and enjoy learning every day.
