Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a Speech Language Pathologist that works in a Title I elementary school which serves many low income and culturally diverse students in grades K-6.

My caseload consists of approximately 50 students with a variety of communication disorders.

My students are eager to learn how to become better communicators by working toward their specific speech and language goals.

I love my job! I enjoy being able to help students become more effective communicators in the school (and hopefully, community) setting.

My speech students are highly motivated to work with me in speech and also in the general education setting and at home.

I strive to create a classroom with a variety of motivating resources to engage my speech students and make lessons uplifting and rewarding.

I have had several students this year express concerns about the continual threat of themselves or their families becoming ill with COVID. I often have younger students leave my speech room saying, "I'll miss you!" which leads me to believe they long for a sense of stability, consistency and security.

My Project

I am thrilled to think about how all of these resources, materials and books will motivate my speech students and enrich my speech and language sessions!

I have selected materials based on individual student needs and goals and know they will be useful in helping me execute my teaching of speech and language concepts.

My students are excited and motivated to become better communicators and for their peers and teachers to be able to better understand all of the important things they have to say!

They enjoy coming to speech and I love to offer them speech sessions with enriching materials and rewards that will inspire them to achieve success in speech!
