Students in my class have ADHD, learning disabilities or they come from difficult backgrounds that make it difficult for them to succeed in school. I work tirelessly to create a safe and enriching environment where they can learn, grow, and feel accepted.
This year students will get their hands dirty and beautify their campus with a school garden.
They will use the seeds and starter pots to start plants. They will use the gardening tools to scoop up the earth and plant their little plants and other supplies to maintain the garden.
The goal is to add a project component to what we are reading in class. We are reading the book "Seed Folk" about a community garden, so students will see a parallel in their own lives.
