After almost a year of sedentary life during the coronavirus pandemic, I simply can not expect students in students in my special education English resource classes to sit through lessons day after day on uncomfortable seats. Research makes evident the benefits of flexible seating in classrooms: when students can wobble, rock or bounce, they increase blood flow to their brain while sitting for a lesson. I also work at a school that suffers from a severe facilities shortage. This alternative seating will add flavor to the classroom experience. From a more functional standpoint, the new seating will encourage good posture for students. I can not wait to see my students' faces when they walk in to see the new seating. This small change will make students more motivated to attend my class. Because I share a classroom with a special education math teacher, his students will also benefit.
