Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have 20 kind and caring students who tested into our districts Advanced Learning Academy. We love to do Project Based Learning and hands on projects for all curriculum areas. We love to have experts come and speak with us, as well as go see them for different field trip experiences.

My Project

These materials are all incorporated into our science curriculum. Fifth grade science focuses on Physical and Chemical Changes, Water and Erosion, and Life Cycles. My students will be able to participate in hands on learning to help us understand our Core Science Curriculum. Many of these materials will make our learning stronger and give my students time to experiment and learn on their own. Their eyes and hands will be protected with the goggles and the gloves, and they will be able to get hands on learning instead of just a demonstration. Science can be an expensive subject, and these materials will help me provide a better learning process for my students. Students will use the scales to measure the changes of mass between physical changes and chemical reactions. They will use the test tubes, test tube holders, magnifying glasses, baking soda, and citric acid to experiment with different chemical reactions and physical changes. We will be able to use the safety goggles and gloves to keep our eyes and hands safe while doing our experiments and teaching lab safety. The balloons will be used to help show students that gas has weight by creating a balance. The jars will help us to create tiny ecosystems in the classroom to show the difference of the biosphere, hydrosphere, ecosphere, and atmosphere. Of course the paper towels will be used to wipe up any spills that may occur during our experiments.

All of these materials will help us with a hands-on learning and exciting classroom environment.

All of these resources will directly relate to helping my student continue their academic learning in the light of COVID-19 by providing them hands-on learning to help them better understand our science curriculum. These experiences are important to show students that learning can be fun.
