My Students

Our school in Charlotte is part of the Mecklenburg County district. Our neighborhood school serves almost 1,000 students in grades 6-8, and we have fantastic teachers on staff.

South Charlotte Middle School thrives in an environment of academic excellence where students are prepared to meet and exceed their future challenges.

The teaching staff is dedicated to lifelong learning with many teachers having graduate degrees and/or being Nationally Board Certified. Additionally, South Charlotte Middle School teachers have been selected to present their innovative teaching strategies at state conferences.

South Charlotte Middle School consistently scores among the top schools in North Carolina. It has been named a North Carolina School of Excellence several years and was recognized as a "No Child Left Behind National School of Excellence." Additionally, in 2007, South Charlotte Middle School was named a "NCLB Blue Ribbon School."

My Project

By 2018, it is projected that 2.4 million STEM jobs will go unfilled. To close this gap, we must create opportunities for students to access STEM resources and materials. Our students need access to literature that exposes them to careers in STEM so that they can prepare themselves for careers in this field.

Each Science World magazine subscription shows students the interconnected nature of science by relating each exciting topic to biology, chemistry, physics, earth science and engineering.

Plus, all of the magazine’s lesson plans are aligned to state and national standards and address the three dimensions of the Next Generation Science Standards. These magazines also contain digital resources that vary the levels of support to meet the needs of all learners. Most importantly, the subscriptions expose students to the many careers available in STEM-related fields of study.
