My Project

As we wrap up the 2022-2023 school year, it is difficult to not become excited for a brand-new start! I love welcoming my new second-grade students to our classroom each August.

There is nothing better than starting the school year with fun and engaging books to share with the students.

Each summer, I work diligently to create a classroom environment that is warm, welcoming, and clean for my incoming students. While time and energy goes into the physical set up of the classroom, even more energy goes to determining routines and content to start the year! An important focus for the beginning of the year is social/emotional learning.

Students and teachers explore emotions, friendship, and responsibility to set up a loving learning environment. We discuss how to support our classmates when they are feeling sad and how children can self-regulate to make sure they are ready to learn each day. This project will provide me with engaging books that will help make abstract concepts like kindness and perseverance more concrete for my little learners.
