I teach at a Title I school in Tennessee. We are a small town in middle Tennessee. My class is a diverse group of children with a wide range of abilities. My school is made up of over 95% of students who receive free or reduced price lunches. About 32% of my students are English language learners!
Each year, I serve several children with special needs, and they need a safe, comfortable, and stable chair .
These sweet kindergarteners are enthusiastic, creative, and always rise to the occasion in order to meet my expectations. My kids come to school eager to learn, and curious about the world around them; and like little sponges, they soak in all the information they can.
My students deserve the best education I can provide for them, and that includes the best environment, the best resources, and the best experiences that I am able to provide for them. I am proud and very blessed teach each of them.
My Project
The use of chairs is a daily activity in my classroom, especially this year as we are following the social distancing policy in our school district. I used to have very flexible seating in my classroom, and found that my students liked that and many times performed better. However, now I must keep them as far apart as I am able. Using the chairs currently in my room creates another problem because they are unstable and unsafe. As if placing my students in various areas of my class wasn't hard enough, I know worry about one of them getting injured due to falling out of an unstable chair.
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement because they will be able to sit in a stable and safe chair.
Students will be able to simply focus on their academics, and not whether they got the "wobbly" chair. Plus, my teacher heart will not have to worry as much about my students falling and getting injured!
