The younger students love how colorful everything is, and the older students love the variety of supplies offered.\r\n\r\nIn 5th grade we are working on abstract horses in the style of Laurel Burch using lines, shapes, and bright colors. It is an open ended project where students get to choose what materials they use. Some students are using watercolors and painting, some are coloring with markers and colored pencils, and one student has figured out how to cut up pieces of construction paper and turn his horse into a stained glass looking artwork. Older students in my classroom get to choose the supplies they use to create artworks, and enjoying having a large variety to choose from. \r\n\r\nThe beginning if the school year is an exciting time of the year. Having new exciting Art supplies adds to the excitement. I absolutely love to read books to my students. These books are ones that I have had my eye on for quite some time. It's not always easy to purchase items for our classrooms when funds are limited. I have been able to use these books already with my third grade students to cover various literature and writing standards. They are also engaging texts for my students. Several of my students were in the same classroom with their first grade teacher and had to sit at tables. The students were so excited to have a desk to call their own! \r\n The desks have made it possible for my students to have their own space to keep their books and supplies in order. Students are able to quickly and quietly retrieve their materials needed. This makes transitions flawless and maximizes our actual learning time. \r\n Using desks rather than tables for seating in my classroom has made it possible to arrange my classroom to maximize the space thus creating an incredible learning enviornment. I'm so thankful for the Bezos Family Foundation for matching all donations.
