I teach children with varying exceptionalities such as specific learning disabilities, autism, vision impairment, and cerebral palsy. My students are at least two grade levels behind their same-age peers.
We are a Title I school which means many of the children come from impoverished backgrounds.
They have parents who have many challenges. Many students are part of the Hunger Project which helps feed them on weekends.
In my room, the students are able to work on their level and at the pace they need. We are trying to ensure that they get the most out of their education.
My Project
In our classroom we teach children with specific learning deficits that need our special attention and teaching tools.
We use very specialized games, lessons, toys, and tools to teach the skills to students who lack them.
We will use the Pop And Add game for math centers so that students can practice number sense skills. We will use Finger Paints, the Magnetic Designer, and the I Can Build It Kit to increase muscle control and build fine motor skills. The Upper Case and Lower case magnet Letters will be used during our Language Arts block to teach letter recognition.
