Special Needs Students can be successful in General Education Classrooms
My students need to be able to have options for seating and a way to work in a different location. The portable shelf will allow me to easily have my students ready to work.
My classroom is in a high poverty district. All students in the district received free breakfast and lunch. Our students come from low income homes, one parent family homes, and situations that we cannot control. We strive every day to make their school experience worthwhile and engaging!
I support students who have Autism, Down Syndrome, High Lead Levels, Behavioral Issues, and Learning Disabilities.
It is my mission to make all of my students successful so they can remain in the General Education classrooms. My students need flexible seating, sensory supports, differentiated instruction, and behavioral supports to meet their needs on a daily basis.
These students struggle with self-control, learning content, and just meeting the daily demands of their General Education Classroom. It is crucial that my students have everything they need so they can stay in their General Education Classroom with their typical peers. All of these supplies will help my students with special needs be successful!
My Project
I have requested some seating and shelf so my students will special needs with have options for flexible seating in the General Education classrooms. Kindergarten has a rigorous curriculum and students are required to do a lot of reading. The flexible seating will provide an area where my students can increase their focus and improve their time on task. The sets will allow my students to learn to read in a very exciting environment. Who wouldn't love to read in this forest like setting. I want my students to learn to LOVE READING!
The shelf will allow me to provide my students easy access to their classwork that meets their specific needs.
I can have differentiated work available for my students at all times. My students require individualized work on a daily basis. Some are far below grade level once they arrive in Kindergarten. I know that is hard to believe but it the reality with today's curriculum. The shelf will have everything that my individual students need to be successful in the General Education classroom right at their fingertips each day.
