My students need track meet equipment for our annual Special Needs track meet that includes student participants from 12 area high schools!

My Students

On your mark, get set, GO!!! We will be off to the races at our annual Special Needs track meet and are in need of some new equipment! This is our 4th year hosting this event and it is such a blessing to our students in the spirit of competition and exercise!

I have been teaching high school students with moderate to severe disabilities for the last 10 years.

Four years ago I came up with the idea to host a track meet for our students and invited several other high schools in our district to participate. Our track meet has grown over the years and now we have several hundred students that compete at this event. We look to our community to help us provide everything that we need.

My Project

We need some new colorful batons for our relay races at our track meet. These color-coded batons will help our students to visualize where there hands need to be and where their teammates hand needs to be when they pass it off. We are also in need of tape measures at each of our field-events to measure the distance of our modified field events. This year we are implementing the reverse hurdles and need easy to use hurdle bars that will eliminate the chance of our students getting injured!

My students always look forward to this track meet every year!

Opportunities for our students to participate in a sporting event are few and far between! It is a wonderful day for not only our students but our many volunteers as well.
