My students need 7 unique sensory and learning items to support their sensory needs and to help them develop balance.

My Students

My class, of Special Needs Kindergarten and First Graders, face daily challenges to meet their sensory needs. They are fidgety, unbalanced, sensory seeking kiddos.

This school year I have taken on the challenge of a Functional Skills Special Day Class.

My darling students are working hard to overcome the challenges of Autism, Down's Syndrome, Soto's Syndrome (Cranial Gigantism), Seizure Disorders, and Intellectual Disabilities. They are the cutest group of sweeties, who work hard everyday, just to figure out our world. I love my job!

My Project

There is much research to support the benefits of helping these students in unique ways. I want to try to reach their basic sensory needs through these unique products. Foam Blocks to give stability during seatwork, Stability Pads and a Monkey Board to increase their balance skills, Yuk-E Balls and covers to offer a tactilely sensory treat, and the most unique products, a PresSure Vest, Weighted Vest, and a Weighted Shoulder snake because when weight or pressure is applied it may help the sensory system calm down and organize, so the child can attend better to tasks.

We all need our most basic needs met before we can learn and grow.

These unique children need unique products to meet their most basic sensory needs. In these tight budget times, out districts are not always willing to divert funds to purchase items that they don't consider essential. But if I can help these children make growth, I need to give it my best!
