Challenge our minds! We are not yet ready for the abstract concepts represented by pictures on paper. Please help us to learn these concepts by providing us with materials we can touch and move so that we can learn to do some of the things our peers already do!
My students attend a regular school, but are in a special needs classroom.
I have some students who are pull-out for only 90 minutes a day; however, this special group is with me ALL DAY!. We need materials that fit their very special learning styles and needs.
My Project
By touching, manipulating, and exploring we can start to learn basic concepts and work on our fine motor skills, and hand-eye coordination. With these materials we can match objects by color, identify objects by touch or pointing, sort objects by various attributes (size, color, type). We will also learn to share materials, work for longer periods of time, and follow directions.
These students need all the opportunities possible to learn skills so they can achieve skills to function in society.
They are very young, and some brightly colored hands-on materials will be of great assistance in teaching them to love school!
