This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My classroom is almost completely and solely funded through the kindness and generosity of friends, family, and even strangers worldwide. I am a first-year special education teacher in Kensington, Philadelphia. My classroom is life skills and emotional support. My kids come from very little, and I strive to ensure they have food, clothing, and class supplies all throughout the year. I have worked to create an environment that feels like family in my room. This environment has been worth every penny but has left me struggling to replenish our supply as we head toward the end of the year. Every child deserves a room that is comfortable, welcoming, and filled with everything they need to learn and succeed. I am blown away every day by the kindness towards educators and students shown through apps like DonorsChoose, and I am so excited to share the new projects we can continue to create with these new supplies.
