My students need a document camera and projector because these are teaching and presentation tools for teachers. They can show text, 2D or 3D objects in a magnified form to a large group of students or entire class.
"Not all readers are leaders, but all leaders are readers.” - Harry S. Truman
I am a Special Education teacher in a Integrated co-teaching first grade class. One-third of my students don't know all the letter names and letter sounds. By the end of the school year, all my students need to be reading on grade level.
My students are my pride and joy.
I love them like they are my own children. My students are first graders in a Title 1 school in New York City, which means most of my students receive free lunch and are from low income families. My students are hardworking and have leadership qualities. Some of my students struggle with reading and writing, which makes it very stressful for my students to meet Common Core State Standards.
My Project
If I am lucky to receive the projector, document camera, and media cart, I will be able to use these materials to demonstrate
multi-sensory activities for my class. I can show my students sign language strategies to teach my students how to decode words. By learning the Tucker Sign Language techniques, my students can view the signs, write down the letters that correspond to the sound, and read the words. This will help them to decode words. I will also show them videos of multi-sensory strategies for learning sight words. The videos use multi-sensory methods that help special needs children easily learn to spell sight words, identify shapes, and numbers by listening to music and moving with the motions.
Your donations to this project will greatly help my students to reach their reading goals.
In a first grade class, students must be on a level J ( or beginning of second grade level) by the end of June. The majority of my students are reading at a level C or lower. This project will greatly help my students reach their reading goals and be able to meet Common Core State Standards. This will greatly help my students to feel a level of accomplishment and have better self esteem.
