Hello! I am a special education teacher in a new Title I, Public Charter School with a diverse population, including many students who are English Language Learners. I teach special education K-9 to the most wonderful students! Opening a new school in the middle of a pandemic has not been easy! My school has been hit hard by Covid because the grant money allotted for resources and supplies have been held up due to the pandemic. That means that I have very limited supplies for my special education students to work with as they come back to campus for Hybrid learning. Additionally, teaching in a pandemic prohibits us from sharing, which means we need more supplies than ever before. Hands-on learning is CRUCIAL for learning in special education, as my students need individualized instruction, tools, and supplies that best fit their needs.
My Project
My special education students are struggling to learn at home, and my school is doing everything we can to get my students onto campus safely. Teaching during the pandemic means the safety of our students comes first. Therefore, I need more supplies than ever if I want them all to experience a hands-on learning environment, as sharing supplies is now out of the question.
I need these supplies to help me provide hands-on, authentic special education services in an inclusive learning environment.
The desk-top teacher easel will provide me a space to present information to all my students as I move from classroom to classroom. The magnetic letters, letter parts, and all of the math tools and strategies will allow my students' to manipulate their learning as well as help my students with their fine motor skills. Almost every item on this list can be used in multiple ways to help my students. Please and thank you!
