Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are in a 12:1:1 classroom. They have been together for five years and are excited for a new year and new start! My students are all learning disabled, but are full of energy and excitement. They are well-behaved and love science and math. Our school is a Title I school for every student receiving free lunch.
Learning disabilities do not keep my students from achieving their goals.
They work extra hard to keep up and they enjoy learning new topics.
My Project
My special education kids are in desperate need of leveled readers for levels A-I. Our classroom library is stocked with higher level books (levels J-Q), however, next years kids are not at that level in reading. Many of the students entering my classroom are reading on a level E or lower. Unfortunately, I do not have any books for them to practice independent reading.
Independent reading is a crucial part of a reading workshop, and we do not have books to read!
Help stock our classroom with leveled readers so we can soar through the reading levels and learn to love reading!
