My Project

Our classrooms are made up of 15 students on the autism spectrum. We enjoy baking on Friday following a week of learning and socializing together. So far this year we have made chocolate cupcakes, apple sauce, noodles, pancakes with bacon, smore's, pudding, and pizza.

Students read and follow a recipe, measure ingredients, learn the science of baking and trying new foods.

Baking skills will help our students gain personal confidence and give them the tools to bake independently. They will experience the need to wait and watch as we use the toaster oven, air fryer and microwave. The rolling pins and hand mixer will be used to develop eye-hand coordination. The books on our list will help bring the importance of healthy eating to our lessons.
