This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
These materials including early language kids and language games that have characters my students enjoy will help spur interest in learning during speech therapy. I work with special needs students from 8:1:1 and 12:1:1 settings from bilingual Spanish homes. Sometimes they lose attention quickly and I am constantly looking for new materials to engage them. We are huge fans of "There Was an Old Lady" series. We currently have built a collection of several of the series books including a bat, a map, a clover, and etc.
My students struggle greatly with early language skills including naming common vocabulary and sequencing events.
My students struggle with literature and reading activities due to poor comprehension of questions. Keeping my students interested and constantly buying new materials can definitely add up in costs. A lot of these materials can be costly but would be very beneficial for my students. Lakeshore offers many activities that can be used in Speech Therapy that I have used before successfully. I don't have them as a resource currently as they are not provided to us by our schools.
