The students at our High School come from a wide variety of cultures and socioeconomic backgrounds. This is a 9-12 public speaking class that also awards college credit to upperclassmen.
Students in my public speaking class all share the need to graduate high school with the public speaking skills to not only get them heard, but to empower them to change the word they live in.
Many students struggle with speech anxiety and require extra support to make it through the class.
My Project
The supplies that I am requesting are intended to help students take their public speaking to the next level, so they can go out into the world and make a difference!
The iPad, case, and stand will be used by students to record their presentations for the purpose of self reflection and improvement.
Students will review the recording and type up a written reflection, that includes goals for the next presentation.
The books will be used to start a resource library for students needing to improve their public speaking technique and work through overcoming public speaking anxiety. In the future we would like to expand both the number of ipads and the books in the resource library.
