Speaking the Language of Science: Empowering Multilingual Learners' Success!

Help me give my students the North Carolina EOG Success Grade 5 Science books to master the new state science standards and build the confidence they need to succeed on their EOG test.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My multilingual learner scholars are bright, curious 5th graders who are eager to learn and ready to grow. While they are motivated to succeed, preparing for the North Carolina End-of-Grade (EOG) Science Test can be challenging, especially with the rigor of the new state science standards. With the right tools and resources, I know they can rise to the challenge and show their full potential.

I am requesting 25 North Carolina EOG Success Grade 5 Science student study guide books to help my students prepare for the state science test.

These resources are designed to cover all of the newly updated NC Science standards in depth, including: force and motion, graphing motion, properties of matter, body systems, behaviors, and traits, comparing ecosystems, earth systems, and weather and seasonal changes. Each book also includes a digital copy, pre-test, post-test, glossary, and key academic vocabulary review. These features ensure my students can practice test-taking strategies, build higher-order thinking skills, and strengthen their understanding of academic vocabulary and abstract concepts.

My goal is to use these study guides as a daily review tool, helping students practice and strengthen their understanding in small, consistent steps. In addition, I plan to share this resource with parents so that they can support their child's learning at home. This will help bridge home and school, ensuring our multilingual families have clear ways to reinforce science concepts and academic vocabulary outside of the classroom.

Strong science knowledge helps students not only on the EOG, but also in becoming problem-solvers and critical thinkers. For English language learners especially, having a clear, structured resource with visuals, vocabulary, and guided practice is essential to grasping complex scientific ideas. These study guides will provide equitable access for all of my students, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to succeed!
