My Project
Giving an oral presentation requires practice. My students have worked hard since the school year began to improve their writing and do well with essays and other written responses, but I want them to develop a different skill set- public speaking.
A podium can help with public speaking because it will allow the student speaker to see the other students more clearly, while feeling safe.
Few of my students will eagerly explain to the class their reasoning and thinking from any place in the room. They enjoy being the leader and will present scientific arguments and results to their peers in a loud, concise voice. While most others will only share from the safety of their seat or in a low voice.
I believe using a microphone will encourage students to use their voice. These two tools together will motivate more students to present to others and promote class discussions to create an effective learning environment.
