My students need bean bag seats, a rug, and storage crates to bring our Speak Yo' Truth classroom alive! I am trying to create a poetry loungep vibe for my students!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Being a teacher at my middle school is, in fact, a privilege because I get to work with a diverse group of students who have a strong desire to learn. Being that our middle school is predominately African American/Hispanic, I pay close attention to the needs of my students, and I know it is my responsibility to create a culturally responsive and open classroom.
This year my classroom theme is "Speak the Truth." I want my students to learn the importance of speaking and living in their truths by providing them with content that is culturally relevant and interesting to them.
I want to bring this to life in my classroom with materials that focus specifically on students having the freedom to be true to themselves while learning the content.
I am excited to bring this to life for my scholars, and I hope that you choose to donate.
My Project
I am so, so, so excited about this year for my students. One thing that is extremely vital this year is that I am bringing the content alive for my kids, and I want them to be able to connect with readings and learning and apply it to their life.
"Speak Yo' Truth" is a classroom theme I thought of for this year because I really want to focus on student voice in my class.
I want students to be able to express what the literature means and how it can be applied to their own lives. We need bean bag seats, a rug, and storage crates. The materials I am requesting are to make that classroom theme come alive for my scholars! I hope that you will choose to support my project and give my scholars a classroom they can OWN!
