My Students

I teach ninth and tenth graders just outside of Seattle, WA. This project is designed to impact one specific class. I am teaching a reading intervention class next year. This class will have 30 or less students, (usually mostly boys) who really struggle with reading and writing.

This project will purchase engaging texts that will hook these struggling readers and change their outlook on the value of the written word.

They are a diverse community of learners from many different backgrounds and socioeconomic levels. The district does not provide materials for this class, so any help towards purchasing these texts is greatly appreciated.

My Project

This project will 100% go straight to students. Funding this project will put an engaging text about a relevant topic directly in the hands of the students that most need it.

This project will purchase a text set of Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson for my classroom.

This text will engage students who previously struggled with reading and hopefully encourage them down the path of a life long love of reading.

Engaging students freshman year is key to seeing high school success and ultimately graduation. Providing this text to these students has the possibility to change the course of their high school career and their lives
