My Project

I am excited to introduce a new afterschool jewelry-making club at our Title I middle school! As the 6th-grade counselor, I work with a diverse group of students in a school where many face challenges outside of the classroom.

This club will provide a creative and therapeutic outlet for students of all grades, allowing them to express themselves through the art of jewelry making.

Our club will meet twice a month for 30-minute sessions, offering a unique space for students to engage in hands-on projects, develop fine motor skills, and build confidence through the creation of wearable art. I want to ensure that every student—whether they are in 6th, 7th, or 8th grade—has the materials needed to explore their creativity in a safe, welcoming environment.

With your support, we can provide a wide range of materials, tools, and supplies- including beads, charms, and other materials- that will allow our students to thrive and experiment with different types of jewelry-making techniques such as beading, wire work, and stringing. These skills can promote patience, perseverance, and pride in their work—qualities that will benefit them beyond the club. Our club will provide an opportunity for students to engage in a fun, low-pressure activity that fosters teamwork, builds confidence, and promotes creativity.
