Help me give my students nonfiction magazines to spark their love of reading!
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Maye's classroom raised $206

My Project
Our students are excited to learn, curious, innovative, and fun!
Our classroom is comprised of forty-eight 2nd and 3rd grade students at a constructivist charter school in California.
We are also a magnet school so students from many different backgrounds and cultures get to know each other. We set high standards and enjoy the journey to reach them.
The most interesting and inspiring stories are the ones from real life! During Reader's Workshop, our students will read Scholastic News magazines and get to know the world outside their classroom door. They will discover why millions of honeybees have disappeared and why there is good news for them now. They'll learn about the Zingu River, South America's largest country, and the Amazon Rainforest. They'll read a new analysis of moon rocks and what interesting clues about the ancient history of the earth it reveals. They'll meet fifteen year old Ethan King, the founder of Charity Ball, an organization that raises money to hand-deliver soccer balls to kids in developing countries. The students will discover how they too can be a person like Ethan who makes a difference, and leave this world a little better than when they found it.
