Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students attend a Title 1 high school are are taking Spanish to fulfill their foreign language requirement. Many are college bound and hope to use their linguistic skills in future employment. They also participate in our Seal of Bi-literacy program. Many of my students speak Spanish at home and wish to learn how to read and write. They are eager learners and come to school with a positive attitude. Spanish is a great skill for all students to learn in high school.

My Project

My students are learning medical Spanish for their future medical careers. Students will use these whiteboards in small group discussions as they present their research findings on medical technologies involving STEM in Spanish. Students are learning medical terminology to help in their scientific and medical classes. Students learn about medical terms in anatomy, biology, and chemistry. These small discussion groups help students understand the large topics by having students facilitate their own learning. The whiteboards will be used to display medical vocabulary and students can draw pictures to explain the terminology. This is a must-need for these classes. Your support for STEM is greatly appreciated.
