Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Please help me fill our school library's bookshelves! I serve in the best school in my district, and my students are the coolest; we just need a little help stocking our bookshelves. My students are always requesting more popular graphic novels and bestsellers, especially my brilliant kids in our English Second Language program who are working tirelessly to learn English.
This year, we have students joining us from all over the world including the Ukraine, Afghanistan, and Venezuela.
Some of them are getting to attend school for the first time in their lives! The critically-acclaimed books and graphic novels requested in this project have won at least one major children's book award, and they amplify diverse voices and experiences, but translated books always cost two or three times what an English copy of the same book will because of translator costs and publishers needing to set up different typesets before printing.
Please consider donating to this project or another like it on my page. I've purposely kept the project costs low and separated the book requests so you can have an opportunity to fund book purchases for stories you love.
