Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I believe every child can learn if we challenge, guide and provide the tools needed. All children by the end of the year will improve their literacy skills, science and mathematical skills. The students will be more active and lead healthier lives which will aid them in being more successful in second grade. The challenge comes with the lack of materials and all the budget cuts.

We have a high rate of free or reduced lunch students in our school and district.

Our classroom is an all inclusion model, where all children learn together. Because of the bad economy, some of our students are homeless at times. They are English learners from Mexico, the Caribbean, Central and South America and Spanish learners from the community around the school. My children are so eager to learn new things. Our wonderful staff in our community school continues to learn and implement new ways to teach our students and strives to help everyone succeed.

My Project

My dual language learners need Spanish books and Math materials. My students will use the Spanish books to continue developing Spanish reading skills. Spanish reading comprehension and reading fluency skills will help all my students in their educational experiences in our dual language program. They will be able to do share reading with other students and develop a better relationships in the classroom.

The math materials will be a tool for my students to learn and demonstrate addition and subtraction skills needed to be successful in first grade.

The skills learned with the math materials will help them in second grade to continue building strong mathematic experiences.
