Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The Dual Language program serves 50% English language learners and 50% Spanish language learners to promote linguistic excellence, cross-cultural understanding, and high academic rigor no matter what language a student speaks at home. Third grade is the year to learn multiplication, which requires spaced repetition to ensure effective learning.

Your donation will provide my students with boxes, card stock, index cards and glue to be able to make flashcards and practice their multiplication tables through the Leitner system.

Boxes are divided into 7 levels and students review their multiplication cards at increasing intervals. Students work in partners testing each other on their multiplication facts following a calendar. If a student knows the fact, they move the card forward a level. If they don't know it, they move the card all the way back to square one. They practice the levels on different days and when a card reaches level seven, that card graduates! The system can also be used to learn new vocabulary in Spanish and English for any subject as well.
