I teach in an ethnically diverse Reading First School. The majority of my students are bilingual.
This year we will be getting a larger number of students in our classroom due to budget cuts. Unfortunately, most of the shelves in our classroom take up too much space. But, if I remove the shelves there will be no place to store the variety of literature books the children need to read daily. This will prevent them from succeeding academically.
I need a smaller shelf that fits easier into a reading corner. This will encourage the children to read more. They will also get excited about having the opportunity to go to a designated area to read books of their choice. Due to personal choice, students will read more.
Your assistance will provide my students with an opportunity to have a designated reading area. They need the movement to other areas of the room to stimulate their brain. Having this special area will lead to the students reading more often and increasing their vocabulary and improving their comprehension skills.
