I have been a teacher in Head Start since 2012, and every year I am blessed with the most amazing, loving students. My students come to me at the age of three with a hunger to gain knowledge. I try to provide them new experiences daily that they otherwise wouldn't get the opportunity to experience in their home environment . Many of my students have disabilities, and all are from low income, non-English speaking families. These children deserve the chance to reach developmental gains in the same manner children their age in regular class settings reach using various materials.
My Project
This item will help provide a way for my students to participate in learning through technology. At our school we strive for excellence. Although my students are all from low-income families, they too deserve the opportunity to use a variety of resources to help them be successful in life.
My students would benefit from technology in the classroom to help expand knowledge in areas of math, and science while engaging in the use of a different type of resource like a laptop.
My students demonstrate a love for learning and I believe this resource would be a great asset to our classroom. The laptop would help to develop many skills my students from low income communities would otherwise never achieve.
