Every year I am blessed with a special group of children. Within those students, I always have a special little boy or girl with a disability. I love what I do and my goal is to provide an equal opportunity for learning to each individual child in my classroom. In my classroom, I have a very special child named Jayden who is diagnosed with autism. He is unable to correlate the movement of the mouse with the arrow on the computer screen and just bangs and clicks the mouse when I place his hand on it. He then tries to manipulate the program by touching the screen. This breaks my heart because he is so eager to learn. The program does not provide tablets for the students. I feel Jayden and other students I receive in my classroom with disabilities would benefit from having a tablet to learn on and are entitled to the same learning experiences through technology as the typically developing students in the classroom. My goal is to provide an alternative for students that can't sit at a computer table and work on a regular computer.
