Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Our amazing school is located in southeast Washington, DC. Our building is adorned with a beautiful, bright painted mural that highlights the historic Frederick Douglass house and big chair. Our school is a sanctuary for many of our children. We are located in a high-poverty, high-crime area. We strive hard each day to provide our scholars with a safe, nurturing learning environment.

We are proud to teach the most amazing kindergarten scholars in southeast Washington, DC.

The children enter our virtual classroom with bright smiles and lots of energy, ready to start each day. It is our goal to keep our children excited about learning in our virtual learning space.

My Project

The Sound Proof Learning project will help student focus in class. There is a lot of noise from other siblings in their virtual classrooms, younger siblings playing, and parents talking in the background during instruction. This is a big distraction for our youngest learners.

The headphones will help block out the background noise and help to keep the students focused on the assigned tasks.

It has been a challenge holding the children's attention where there is so much going on around. The headphones will definitely help sound proof learning so that students can continue to excel.
