This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come to me with a wide range of abilities, needs, and interests. In my classroom, we engage in meaningful activities centered around individualized goals that we have set for each student in reading, writing, and math, to address the disabilities that impact their learning. They have all different needs and abilities, from hyperactivity and impulsivity, to slower processing speeds, or strengths and weaknesses in literacy or math.

We learn through doing, through visuals, and constant repeated practice to build a strong foundation by mastering basic decoding and math skills that will help my students throughout their lifetime.

My Project

My students need small group instruction because their learning disabilities often include attention deficits and difficulty focusing due to sensory overload. My students need noise-cancelling earmuffs to help them focus on independent work or tests.

This project would help students with learning disabilities and attention deficits throughout the school in all grade levels to tune out the distractions and focus on their learning.

These noise-cancelling earmuffs could be used during inclusion classroom independent work and tests to accommodate student needs, as well as small group classroom independent work, or even during school-wide assemblies, for students who cannot handle the high-energy and high-noise setting.
