Sound Production and Literacy... Let's Make Connections

Help me give my students sound production and literacy materials including a TPT card, reading blocks and an alphabet tracing board that foster their love of learning!

My Project

Many of my students who receive speech and language therapy require intervention for sound production. Sound production intervention may include the treatment of phonological processes and childhood apraxia of speech.

A 2023 article from the International Journal of Developmental Disabilities found that early literacy skills were moderately and significantly correlated with speech-sound production.

Studies found that when intervention included phonological awareness and letter-sound intervention, the intervention not only led to improved word reading skills but also to improved speech accuracy, pointing to the importance of clinicians to concurrently target spoken and written language in children with childhood apraxia of speech.

In this project, I am requesting a Teachers Pay Teachers gift card to purchase materials so that I can further incorporate phonological awareness and letter-sound interventions into my speech and language therapy sessions. This project also includes hands-on activities like an alphabet tracing board for students to utilize during sessions. I hope you will consider donating!
