This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from a very low-income area in Springfield, MA. Our school is a Level 3 school in need of further resources regularly. I teach an abundance of ELL students who need very hands-on language experiences. All students receive free lunch and breakfast each day. Despite many hardships, students come eager to learn and grow each day. I would like to give them the tools they need to succeed every day. With such diverse backgrounds, a classroom is a place where all of my students can feel at home.
My Project
Every day in school my students work on their personal laptops to complete literacy and math learning programs. These programs allow them to receive personalized instruction on a daily basis.
With all this work going on, students often have a hard time focusing when numerous computers are talking out loud to them in the classroom.
With the headphones, students will be able to work independently and progress without distractions from the noise. Most of the programs they work on actively engage them with music and directions. My students also love listening to books on the computer, and with these headphones they will remain more focused and engaged!
