Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"Be the change you want to see in the world", Mahatma Gandhi said, and my students apply this quote in my classroom and dream big every day. My students are classified as Children with Disabilities who need and require engaging resources to motivate them to succeed in R\reading.
The resource room students are students with special needs who require numerous, exciting resources to succeed in academic areas.
My school is a Title One school located in the heart of New York City, and the students faced many challenges to succeed. The students in the resource room need additional materials and attractive resources to motivate them to succeed in academic areas. My students must be prepared to meet the challenges of the 21st Century, and reach their potential.
My Project
Due to budget cuts, it's not possible to purchase these basic supplies for the Resource Room (SETSS) program. We need replacement headphones for our computer learning center where the students are able to work cooperatively with a partner or independently on educational websites or specialized academic on-line programs. A sensory Reading program for younger students require dry erase markers and erasers for them to reproduce letters and words using the writing prompts. Our supply of markers has been depleted, and we need additional supplies to motivate our readers. The room is extremely small, and we require adequate storage space with the Help-Yourself Supply and paper center along with the magnetic board supply caddy. The students require visual prompts to help them focus with digital timers and a Time Timer to allocate what time is left in the period.

These supplies will enable the program to continue to have independent and partnerships with the computer centers, and to have adequate supplies to nourish and motivate students to reach their potential.
