My Students

My students are 4-5 years old and they are from a variety of different economic backgrounds with over 98% of students receiving free lunch. They come to school enthusiastic, happy and eager to learn. Our school's location is in downtown Miami.

In the neighborhood of downtown Miami, my students are not exposed to many resources that are geared towards a Pre-K/Kindergarten student.

It is because of this reason that I am seeking the assistance of DonorsChoose.org and their sponsors to help me to help my students.

My Project

I am requesting an inexpensive CD player and some CDs. I want to sing songs each day as part of our language experience. Nursery rhymes are a great way for my students to become familiar with the English language. They will have the opportunity to hear sounds of letters, words, rhymes and patterns.

The use of whiteboards is a daily activity in my classroom, especially during small groups.

Students come to the rug with whiteboards for guided practice and to record modeled strategies. The whiteboards allow me to see exactly what they are doing, as well as provide an easy place for them to show and share their work. The printer paper will be used to document their wonderful experience in our classroom from the pictures that I will take from time to time.
