Help me give my students a peace area where they are able to go whenever they need to regulate their feelings so they can be ready for a day of learning and fun!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The materials and supplies I am requesting will allow my students to have a peace area where they are welcome to go to at any time of the day when they are feeling some type of way. Our students struggle with a lot of trauma from home, and many are new-commers from other countries who also have a difficult time processing starting a new life in a new country. To many of our students on our campus, our classrooms are the safest place they may go to.
This warm and loving peace area will help my first graders identify how they are feeling and use the materials to their advantage to be able to regulate themselves.
When students feel ready, they can decide when they are ready to come back and join our learning are and this will allows them to be successful learners as well as teaching them self coping and regulation strategies they can use at home.
