Students absolutely LOVED their learning experiences. The generous donations allowed us to use neon media across the curriculum. As soon as the supplies arrived, the upper grades dived right in as we were preparing for our annual Youth Art Month (YAM). As their teacher, I was ecstatic about the neon Sharpies on foil engraved designs. Breathtaking! A first for our YAM!\r\n\r\nWe explored Van Gogh's Starry Night being revisited in neon, all neon with the cypress tree and imaginary village in a brilliant neon silhouette against the swirling starry-filled sky in rich neon oil pastels. Once the neon lights where installed (a huge THANK YOU to my volunteer mothers): bar lights across the tops of displays, spotlights on the neon YAM installation, and accent lights trained on the hanging foil grotto, it was thrilling. It was great fun for each class to test their artwork with lights off and see the magic of neon before our art exhibit.\r\n\r\nSome of the most spectacular artwork was the drawings of imaginative characters in any combination of neon paints, pastels, pencils, or markers. Art Explorers Club was hosted after school for several weeks where students enjoyed splatter painting for backgrounds. The creative juices produced a village of fun creatures and characters that were created in joyful collaboration. As students worked towards their goal of doing their best, it really showed on display. Engineering was a big part of this project as boxes were reimagined into displays for fantastical art sculptures. Plenty of props were painted to add yet more glow as we shared all their artwork at Day of the Student and Multicultural Night. Each week, students work hard to meet expectations, knowing they have the opportunity to earn a prize. This simple system has had a powerful impact.\r\n\r\nI have seen a noticeable improvement in both behavior and academic responsibility. From the moment the supplies arrived, my students were excited and curious—especially about having their own fresh dry erase markers and seeing how quickly we could clean and reset our boards. One of the first activities we did was a collaborative problem-solving lesson where every student used the new markers on whiteboards. They loved being able to actively participate, and I noticed even my quieter students were more willing to share their thinking. Having clean, ready-to-use materials made a big difference in both engagement and confidence.\r\n\r\nBeyond academics, these resources have helped us build stronger daily habits around cleanliness and responsibility. Students now take turns helping wipe down desks, sanitize shared materials, and keep our space smelling fresh and inviting. When they first saw the hand sanitizer, wipes, and cleaning sprays, many of them commented on how \"nice\" and \"fresh\" the room felt—it gave them a sense of pride in our classroom. These small routines have created a healthier environment where students feel comfortable and cared for, which directly supports their ability to focus and learn.\r\n\r\nYour support has made an impact far beyond the supplies themselves. As they experiment with construction, gravity, distance, and water flow, they are developing early STEM skills through purposeful play.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, they were filled with excitement and curiosity.
