Something Worth Preserving

My students need seven copies of three different book titles so that they can learn about preserving ecosystems on their own book level. These titles include: "Sea Otter Rescue: The Aftermath of an Oil Spill", "Prince William", and "Oil Spill". They also need seven hand puppets of animals found in various Georgia habitats.

When is the last time you heard a third grader discussing preserving ecosystems? This kind of discussion is exactly what I want to hear in my classroom this spring! I teach third grade in a low income, Title I school.

With so many standards to teach and difficult content, I need to keep my students encouraged and motivated to learn. These materials will do exactly that!

The leveled readers will capture their interest, teach them difficult content on their level and inspire them to act on what they have discovered! I can't wait to use the puppets to not only bring to life the learning but to assist them in meeting their writing standards! We're going to have a great time using dialogue to persuade our audience that preserving ecosystems is something we can all do! Our Book Buddies will love our performance and my third graders will gain more confidence in their reading skills! I love the natural integration of reading, social studies and writing. It is all wrapped up in one fun, motivating and highly educational unit!
