I will be teaching 1st grade again this year, but in a brand new school. Not only will my school be new, but the school community will be new also. My district is the same, but as the district grows new schools are needed. My school will take current students from each of the buildings and create a new student body. One thing I'm very excited about is being a part of this new community. We will all be able to learn and grow together. Everyone will be new. Although many students in my district have difficulties to face on a daily basis, all the students are special and unique and I am lucky to be a part of their lives.
My Project
My school is a brand new school. Yes, we opened our doors this year and we are working hard to make sure we are creating a meaningful and successful environment. Starting a new school is harder than one would think. Everything we do or say is being judged. This year has already had a huge positive impact on my teaching career and I am so excited to be a part of this new learning community.
A new school comes with cuts and budgets.
I would love to help my new community by adding additional playground equipment. Students learn so much while playing outside. With our growing community inside our classrooms, it is important that we grow our environment outside too. Students need a place to hang, swing, and slide without having to wait in line. Recess is already not long enough so having this extra equipment will allow more students to play rather than wait. This particular climbing set is designed to allow more than 35 students to play at once. Perfect for a growing school population. The additional Funball equipment is perfect for 3 students at a time and is a great way for the non-basketball students to have a chance to still play with balls.
Please help our young learners play more at recess. "Some of the greatest lessons learned today are learned at recess" Kevin Carroll
