Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students at my Title I school come from diverse backgrounds. We are a 100% free breakfast and lunch school. My students come to GATE (Gifted and Talented Education) and TAGS (Title I Alternative Gifted Services) eager to tackle a new challenge. The students in my program have the ability to make their futures bright if they are given the opportunities and access to the materials they deserve. They can help make a difference through education and hard work.
My gifted classroom is full of critical and creative thinkers who are ready to solve a new challenge.
Students are able to think outside the box and share ideas in a safe environment. I am eager to create a classroom that will foster communication, creativity, critical thinking and collaboration.
My Project
My students gravitate toward the few Rubik and Speed Cubes we have in our class every chance they get. Unfortunately, I only have a couple cubes in my classroom so students often don't get a chance to solve a cube. Students would love the opportunity to challenge each other and themselves to learn how to solve the cube.
By receiving a class set of 3x3 cubes, my students will all have the opportunity to learn how to solve this classic activity.
My goal is for all students to push themselves and use growth mindset to solve the cube.
Building students' problem solving skills is one of the many goals in our Gifted and Talented Program. By requesting speed cubes and other IQ Smart logic games will allow my students to improve their logic and problem solving skills.
